What it is
Plane9 is a free Windows visualizer with a few hundred built-in 3D scenes: tunnels, particle fields, geometric fly-throughs, spectrum landscapes. Scenes chain into playlists with transitions, run as a screensaver or a window, and react to system audio. A built-in editor lets the ambitious assemble their own scenes from node blocks.
It sits in the same “install and enjoy” tier as Kauna, with more variety and a more gamer-adjacent aesthetic than G-Force’s organic flow.
What it costs
Free. Windows only.
Best for
Desktop background visuals and party screens on a Windows machine, at zero cost and zero learning curve.
Skip it if
You care about a coherent visual identity. The scene variety is the appeal and the aesthetic ceiling: it always looks like a good screensaver, and a performance needs more than that.
